Questions

When is the Boston Marathon 2027?

Monday, April 19, 2027, from Hopkinton to Copley Square. Wave 1 starts at 10:00 AM, Wave 2 at 10:15 AM, Wave 3 at 10:28 AM, Wave 4 at 10:41 AM, Wave 5 at 11:01 AM and Wave 6 at 11:21 AM, Boston time; times from 2026; we update them when the organizer publishes 2027's.

Where can I watch the Boston Marathon?

Race Together maps 10 places to cheer along the course, from Start line on Main Street in Hopkinton (mile 0) to Boylston Street in Back Bay (mile 26). The most are in Newton (2).

When will my runner pass each cheer zone?

It depends on their wave and finish time. Open the cheer map, set both, and every zone shows when they'll pass. For example, a runner in Wave 2 on pace for a 4h finish reaches halfway (mile 13.1) at about 12:15 PM.

How do I get around on race day?

Take the T. Each cheer zone within a 30-minute walk of a T stop lists the nearest one and about how long the walk is, and the cheer map can show the T lines and stations.

What can't I bring to watch the race?

For 2026, the B.A.A. asked spectators not to bring backpacks or other bags carried over the shoulder (handbags included), coolers, suitcases, large blankets, glass, cans or containers holding more than a liter, bulky or face-covering costumes, props such as flagpoles, packages larger than 12 × 12 × 6 inches, fireworks or weapons, and to leave drones at home. Spectators can't enter the course or run alongside the runners.

Is Race Together the official Boston Marathon site?

No. Race Together is an independent spectator map, not affiliated with the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America. For road closures and race-day updates, see baa.org.
